EPIC, Education Practitioners and Innovators of China, is a group founded by Stanford students. EPIC aims to connect the innovation and resources between China and Silicon Valley and create a cross-border platform for the next generation of education change-makers in China.


EPIC Forum is dedicated to helping young talents to understand and reflect on Chinese educational problems critically, and explore solutions creatively and collaboratively through a variety of panels, fireside chats, workshops, and experiential learning trips.


This year's theme is: Education Equity in China


EPIC China Education Forum is funded by Stanford Graduate School of Education Community Organizations Fund and Student Projects for Intellectual Community Enhancement (SPICE).

Andrea Pasinetti is the founder and former CEO of Teach For China, a nonprofit organization that recruits university graduates from China and the United States and trains them to serve as full-time teachers for two years in under-resourced Chinese schools.
Scott Rozelle
Scott Rozelle holds the Helen Farnsworth Endowed Professorship at Stanford University and is Senior Fellow and Professor in the Freeman Spogli Institute (FSI) for International Studies. Dr. Rozelle is the co-director of the Rural Education Action Project (REAP) and is an adjunct professor in 8 Chinese universities.

Prashant Loyalka
Assistant Professor at Graduate School of Education, Stanford University and Center Fellow at the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies. Prof. Loyalka’s research focuses on addressing inequalities in the education of youth and on improving the quality of education received by youth in multiple countries including China, India, Russia, and the United States.
Yinglian Xie
CEO and Co-founder of DataVisor. Dr. Xie received her Ph.D in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University. Before founding DataVisor, she worked as a senior researcher at Microsoft’s Research.

Sunil Gunderia
Sunil Gunderia is the Chief Strategy Officer at Age of Learning, Inc., a global education technology leader that creates engaging and effective digital learning programs for children. In addition to Sunil’s responsibilities developing corporate strategy at Age of Learning, he also leads teams that leverage the learning and behavioral sciences as well as artificial intelligence to build educational programs that deliver learning outcomes.

Alexis Medina
Alexis Medina has been researching the economics of social issues in China for over ten years. She has extensive experience in international program management, including leading survey teams in rural China, overseeing the design and development of field projects, and coordinating data collection and analysis. She has co-authored several academic publications on the intersection of health and education in rural China.
Veronica Zhou
Veronica is a Chartered Business Valuator(CBV), a Chartered Financial Analyst(CFA), and a designated CPA in China, Canada, U.K and Hong Kong. She has 14 years of Finance and Investment Management experience from eight countries covering tech startups, sovereign wealth funds, and public companies, and does research on Strategy for Technology Innovations in both Silicon Valley and China.
Hongbin Li
Professor Li’s research has been focused on China, and the research results have been both widely covered by media outlets around the world and well read by policy makers. He is the co-editor of the Journal of Comparative Economics, on the editorial board of China Economic Review.
Beibei Li
Co-Founder of Advent Pre-school and Children's Museum. Advent Institute develops curriculum, assessment, professional development for teachers, and family connection resources that serve children from birth through kindergarten. Advent is building its first Advent Kindergarten and Advent Children's Museum in Shenzhen, China.
Joy Chen
Executive Advisor, TAL Education Group

Joy is currently based in Silicon Valley, where she supports TAL Education Group in its overseas development and investments as TAL's Executive Advisor. Joy is also a limited partner at Future Works, an education entrepreneur incubator in China.
Jiaming Lou
Co-founder of FutureChina NGO, Bachelor of Management from Fudan University, and Master of Finance from the University of California San Diego. During the undergraduate period, he participated in the creation of FutureChina NGO. Now he is the head of institutional strategy and international development, and the head of the FutureChina NGO delegation at Youth Assembly.
Ran Liu
Ph.D candidate at University of Pennsylvania. Miss Liu is interested in gender issues, STEM education, poverty, and social stratification with a geographical focus on East Asia.
